11/11/07 In our 4 month absence from email and web updates, there's been alot going on in the Sleeprunner camp, alot of which is not directly Sleeprunner related. It's a Sunday morning and a nice breakfast with a cup of coffee is looking reaaaal good right now, so I'll attempt to keep this as short as I can. I (Bill) have been putting alot of his time into the Paul Green School of Rock, and as of recent, have had the priviledge of having my fellow and former bandmates, Chris Cleveland and Mike Scrima, as Rock School instructors. I've also created a new creative outlet in The Phoenix Antique. I don't know if it would be considered solo or not, but The Phoenix Antique is my little "Den"of ideas that don't fit in Sleeprunner or Audible Crayons. Audible who? When not in Watertown at the School of Rock, Bill, Mike and Mark can be found in lovely Revere, MA with another Scrima. That's right, T.J. and Mike Scrima gave a golden invitation to Bill and Mark to join their long living brainchild of a supergroup, Audible Crayons. With Mike on Keys and vocals, T.J. on guitar, Mark on drums, and Bill on bass, they have been keeping very busy rehearsing their growing set list and keeping a steady run of shows. Even if I wasn't the bass player, I highly recommend checking us out sometime. It's a world of difference from the Sleeprunner sound. If that wasn't enough Mark Sexton news... here's some more. As you may have guessed, Mark has moved on from his original plans to go to New York City, and has been offered a new exciting oppurtunity from the well known Colorado based band, Smooth Money Gesture. SMG has recruited our hard hitter into their family, and will be whisking Mark away right after Thanksgiving. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors in Boulder, CO, and hope he invites us for the hot coffee, skiing, and hat knitting in the near future. So, where does this leave Sleeprunner? I suppose the best way to put it now is that we're taking a break from the live scene. The replacement behind the drum kit is something that we feel shouldn't be pushed, for the sole reason that there is no urgency to do so, and we've agreed there's no real logical explanation to call it quits. The new album is still being recorded, and will still be released. Sleeprunner material will still be written, and Sleeprunner albums will still be made. We've had a great run for the past two years, and if our timeline had it's peaks and valleys, I'd say we're on a steady plateau, patiently awaiting our next peak. We like to think of it as a comfortable silence... for the time being. Stay well! - Bill, Chris, Mark 7/10/07 Hello everyone. It's been a little while since we've updated the site, but we've got some good excuses... if there are such a thing. Sleep-drummer Mark Sexton is indefinitely moving to the Big Apple this coming fall. Are we breaking up? No. Are we actively persuing a new drummer? No. Both Bill and Chris have decided that if a Sleeprunner drummer replacement is necessary, then we'll persue it. Right now, the #1 priority in the Sleeprunner camp is the recording. We are still actively recording our CD, and hope to have it done, or at least "close" to done before Mark makes his move with fellow Norfi/Superfiction mate, Brett Gladstone. Like before, we are still accepting/playing shows before his departure. For the past few months, when not engineering the new Sleeprunner album, Bill has been heavily invovled in the Paul Green School of Rock, being the Music Director of the school in Watertown, MA. This is the 32nd school to open up in the country, and first in Massachusetts. Most people don't know, but Bill and former Sleep-keyboarder Mike Scrima met in a Faith No More Tribute band called "Ugly in the Morning", in mid 2003. Last month, they both lost a good friend when singer Michael "Bidz" Bidwell tragically passed away. Bidz was one of a kind with his music, his friends, and his family and will be missed. We wish his family and children all the best during this hard time, and know that he'll be looking down upon us all whenever we take the stage. More news to come when there is more news to come. ;) 5/1/07 Greetings. Sleeprunner would like to thank everyone that has supported us in Emergenza. Unfortunately, last Friday was the last night for Sleeprunner in the competition as we did not advance to round 3. We played a hell of a show, being our first as a trio, but alas we did not move on. Which brings me to the next order of business. Sleeprunner and Mike Scrima have parted ways due to creative and artistic differences. We'd like to wish him luck and love in all his future endeavors. Most people probably don't know this, but Mark, Bill, and Chris used to be in a band a few years ago together as a trio, so I guess one could say that we are picking up where we left off. Studio sessions are still happening, and seeing as we've gone through a significant sonic makeover recently, completing this new record is even more integral than before. We're working on getting a few live tracks up on our site as well as Myspace, so please keep your eyes and ears open! Enjoy the weather! 3/25/07 Spring, spring, triple spring. Sleeprunner has been playing a few hush hush shows to break in new bass player Chris Cleveland, and planning the next session in front of the mixing board to spit out some new material, as well as some updated previous material as well. Some might look at it as moving backwards, but we see it as capturing the true identity of a song that has matured. It's also important for us to feel that we are putting our best foot forward. As previously stated, we won't move forward without getting our new stuff on tape to share with all you patient people. Trust me, we're dying to get some new material up on this site too. 2/2/07 Happy winter tease. Sleeprunner has gone under construction as of late, as we've parted ways with bass player JP due to creative differences. We wish him good luck and are grateful for our time together as a band. Worry not, Sleeprunner WILL be ready to play the shows on our schedule. In other news, we'd like to wish good luck to our friend Zebbler, aka Peter Berdovsky. We hope this nonsense will be over soon enough. 12/16/06 Hello everyone. Another quick update... Sleeprunner has moved onto Rnd 2 of the Emergenza festival, which will be held at the Middle East Downstairs on Friday, April 27th. Here are the exact standings from the other night. 01 FISTAGON Rock metal 44 We'd like to thank each and every person that came out to support us that night. We are eternally greatful. As for studio news, we are well into the perils of recording. Things are going smoothly and swimmingly! Since we are all working outside of the band, it's tough to lock down an album release date, but we'll post it as soon as we know. We'd like to wish a warm, toasty, gluttonous holiday to you and yours, his and hers, them and theirs, mine and myself, and those wacky Griswolds. 11/13/06 So comes the cold November rain... sorry. Sleeprunner has some big shows coming up in remainder of the year, so make sure to check out the shows and come support a few instrument hitting derelicts. Recording has begun this past weekend for our next new effort. Instead of planning on it being an EP or a LP or an ELPTQHZ, we're just going to record everything we got and make some sort of cohesive clusterfuck out of it. Stay tuned!!!! 10/30/06 Happy B-day JP! 10/10/06 Welcome to the new site. Hopefully the frames and antil graphics won't offend all the web designers and code savvy geniuses out there. Feel free to poke around for a little, as there are a few new additions to the site, including a live photo section, but you please excuse a few temporary inconsistencies here and there. Sleeprunner has been busy with new everything. New songs, new EP in the works, and an upcoming photo shoot. Sleeprunner has just secured a spot with RCA recording Artists, The Sound of Urchins, at KC's Tap in Pawtucket, RI on Dec. 3rd. Show your support and come check out a great show promised to leave your brain in shambles! Stay tuned for more details. |
